Land clearing in the Triangle is rarely as simple as knocking down trees. Using the track loader and the right attachment for the lot, we remove brush, trees and stumps, working in sections so the site stays controlled and we're not tracking clay across ground that's staying.

Local Know-How, Done Right

Our red clay drains slowly, so a freshly cleared lot that loses its tree cover and root structure can turn into a mud problem and a runoff problem fast, which is exactly why North Carolina's erosion-control and stormwater rules matter on anything that disturbs enough ground. Land Clearing Questions
Should I do selective clearing or clear the whole lot?
It depends on your goal. For a building pad, barn site or pasture you usually want full clearing of the footprint plus working room. For a homesite where you want shade and privacy, selective clearing keeps mature hardwoods and a tree line while opening the understory. We'll walk it with you and mark keepers before anything comes down.
What do you do with the trees, brush and stumps you clear?
You have three main options: forestry mulching grinds material into a mulch layer in place with no pile, on-site burning where county rules and conditions allow, or full haul-off so you start with a clean lot. We'll recommend what fits your property, the debris volume and the current burn rules in your county.
Do I need a permit to clear land in Wake or Johnston County?
Smaller residential clearing often doesn't, but once you disturb enough ground, North Carolina erosion-control and local stormwater rules can require a plan, and on-site burning has its own county and seasonal rules. During the walk-through we'll flag what your project likely triggers so there are no surprises, though final permitting is confirmed with your local authority.
Will clearing cause erosion or drainage problems on my clay lot?
It can if it's done without a plan, because removing trees and roots takes away what was holding our red clay in place. We account for that by keeping buffers where it makes sense, rough-grading to move water sensibly, and offering forestry mulching, whose chip layer helps hold soil on slopes until you establish the next ground cover.
Is forestry mulching better than traditional clearing?
For brush and smaller trees it's often the cleanest option: it's a single pass, there's no burn pile or haul-off, and the mulch helps with erosion and regrowth. For larger trees, full stump removal, or a building pad that needs bare, gradeable ground, traditional clearing and extraction is the right call. Many lots use a combination, and we'll lay that out in your estimate.
What size lots can you clear?
